Creators who love photography share their stories with their cameras. The presence of a 'beloved camera' reflects each person's life and values. In this series, mar00ram, who uses the SONY DSC-RX100M2, appears.

mar00ram talks about capturing beautiful moments hidden in everyday life, made possible by the SONY DSC-RX100M2, through casual encounters and cityscapes in daily life. Discussing the charm of a sub-camera that supports creative expression, helps find hidden beauty in everyday life, and adds color to life.

SONY DSC-RX100M2 Basic Information

Equipped with a 1.0-type Exmor R CMOS sensor with approximately 20.2 million effective pixels, it achieves beautiful high-sensitivity, low-noise images. The F1.8 large-aperture ZEISS lens allows for shooting with background blur. The tilt-type LCD monitor supports shooting from free angles, making it ideal for travel and snapshot photography, demanding high image quality in a compact form.

The Hot Compact Digital Camera

I'm introducing the compact digital camera, SONY RX100 M2, released over 10 years ago. Recently, there's been talk about the resurgence of compact digital cameras as a hot trend.

It's been 13 years since the first release of SONY's RX100 series, and the current seventh generation has become a high-spec, luxury camera with features and image quality comparable to mirrorless cameras, despite being a compact camera. I considered why I continue to use an old model despite the availability of new and attractive cameras from other companies.

The Desire to Shoot Casually

I've always wanted to capture scenes in everyday life and chance encounters without being too formal. I purchased it in 2013 as a sub-camera to fulfill this desire.

With 20.2 million pixels and a 1.0-type sensor, it may not match full-frame or APS-C sizes, but it has sufficient resolution. The sharp 28mm-100mm Vario-Sonnar lens offers a suitable angle for street snaps, allowing you to enjoy snap photography anytime with this one camera in your bag. Above all, weighing less than 300g, it's not a burden to carry around all the time. In winter outerwear, it even fits in a pocket.

Favorite Features

The LCD monitor has a tilt mechanism, allowing waist-level shooting.
This is my favorite feature. For example, when walking and shooting in a shopping street, you can decide the composition at the height of products or signs in front of stores.

The World Seen Through a Child's Eyes

A child's perspective can show us a different world, making us aware of things we usually overlook. For instance, seeing the height of Kyoto Station's roof from a child's eye level reveals a different world.

I tried taking a photo of a parent-child walk from the height of a panda. Shooting from such a low angle is easy and enjoyable, making it one of the camera's attractions.

The Camera as a Partner

Since its release, as a compact digital camera, it has been highly complete, with image quality and operability that have not faded even after more than 10 years of use. It remains an indispensable partner for me.
