The Rollei 35 AF revives the charm of classic film cameras with modern technology. In addition to the precise design that the traditional Rollei brand boasts, it is equipped with a variety of features such as an autofocus function with the latest LiDAR technology, an OLED display, and a long exposure mode.

The eagerly awaited pre-order date for the Rollei 35 AF has been announced as September 10, 2024. Shipments will begin in mid-October. The price is 849 euros (approximately 137,000 yen as of August 22). MiNT has informed us that Be-Half Co., Ltd. will serve as the distributor in Japan.

This time, based on the manual provided by MiNT, cizucu introduces the 8 features of the Rollei 35 AF.

Equipped with an autofocus system that uses the latest LiDAR technology, it allows precise focusing from 70cm to infinity. The autofocus is activated by half-pressing the shutter button, and a green indicator light notifies you when focusing is complete. Users do not need to guess the focal distance, enabling quick and accurate shooting.

2: Dual Exposure Modes - Auto and Manual

It features both auto mode (A-2, A-1, AUTO, A+1, A+2) and manual mode, accommodating various shooting conditions. The auto mode automatically adjusts exposure, making it easy for beginners to use. In contrast, the manual mode allows users to set the shutter speed from 1/500 second to 1 second, controlling specific effects and light intake.

3: Manual Film Winding and Rewinding

Film winding and rewinding are done manually. To advance the film to the next frame, the winding lever must be fully turned. If the film is not advancing properly, the shutter button remains pressed to prevent shooting overlapping frames. Rewinding is also done manually, allowing for careful film management.

4: Compact and Lightweight Design

The Rollei 35 AF is compact and lightweight, measuring 104(W) x 75(H) x 56(D) mm and weighing 242g (excluding battery). This design makes it easy to carry for travel and everyday use, allowing you to take high-quality photos anywhere.

5: OLED Display

The built-in OLED display shows real-time information such as remaining film frames, exposure status, ISO settings, and battery level. The exposure status icon provides visual warnings for overexposure or underexposure, preventing shooting errors.

6: Built-in Flash with Adjustable Intensity

The built-in flash automatically adjusts the light intensity according to the subject's distance, ensuring proper exposure even in low-light conditions. The flash operates continuously except in very bright scenes, and using the A+2 exposure compensation can achieve even brighter effects. The flash can also be turned off manually.

7: Shutter Speed Selector with Long Exposure Mode (LT Mode)

In addition to normal shutter speeds, it features a long exposure mode (LT mode) that can be set from 2 seconds to 60 seconds. This mode allows for visually impressive effects, such as night scene photography and light trails. The selected exposure time is displayed on the OLED display, making it easy to set.

8: Self-timer with Tripod Mount

Equipped with a 10-second self-timer function, it allows for group photos and selfies. A standard 1/4-inch tripod mount hole is located at the bottom of the camera, enabling stable composition when using a tripod. A red lamp flashes quickly as a signal just before the shutter is released.
