Stories of creators who love photography and their cameras. Each "beloved machine" reflects their worldview and values. In this series, tk, a devoted user of the FUJIFILM X-T5, shares his insights.

Since its release, tk has been captivated by this camera, which he considers his companion. He talks about the retro design, intuitive operation, and the limitless expressive power brought by its compatibility with old lenses. Discover the rich depictions and joy of photography created by combining it with classic negatives.

FUJIFILM X-T5 Basic Information

Equipped with a 40.2-megapixel backside-illuminated X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor, this camera is characterized by high resolution and rich color reproduction. It offers up to 7.0 stops of in-body image stabilization for stable shooting and features AI-powered subject detection AF for fast and precise focusing. With ISO125 low sensitivity support, it allows for detailed depictions, and its lightweight body of approximately 557g makes it ideal for snapshots and travel photography.

Why It's My Companion

It's been my companion since its release. I won't delve into the detailed specs of this camera. The reason it remains my companion is simple.

First, its appearance! The retro design reminiscent of FUJIFILM's film cameras. With dials for shutter speed, ISO, and exposure adjustment on the top, you can intuitively adjust exposure to match the shooting scene and create the atmosphere of the photo.

Shooting Tailored to the Subject

However, some might find it a bit large for an APS-C camera.

But I find charm in that. Beyond its design, the main reason I love this camera is its ability to swap old lenses according to the scene and subject.

It's not as large as a full-frame camera. Yet, due to its firm grip and ease of handling, even with a large old lens and a mount adapter attached, it's perfectly sized for one-handed shooting.

Creating My Preferred Look

Above all, I can endlessly enjoy creating my preferred photos by combining the unique look of each old lens with film simulations. Recently, I've been enjoying pairing the newly purchased Leica Summarit 50mm f1.5 with classic negatives, taking this combination out for photo activities on my days off.
