Creators who love photography share their stories with their cameras. The presence of a "beloved camera" reflects each person's life and values. In this series, Tsubasa Manufacturing, who loves the PENTAX K-1 Mark II, makes an appearance.
Urban landscapes show dramatic expressions through the interplay of light and shadow. A ray of light streaming through the gaps between skyscrapers, long shadows cast by the setting sun, and silhouettes emerging in backlight. By skillfully incorporating light and shadow, everyday cityscapes transform into special moments. They discuss perspectives and techniques for capturing the light and shadow of the city.
PENTAX K-1 Mark II Basic Information
Equipped with an approximately 36.4-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor, it achieves high-sensitivity shooting up to ISO 819200 through the combination of an accelerator unit and the PRIME IV image processing engine.
Additionally, it features the Pixel Shift Resolution System II, allowing for high-resolution images even in handheld shooting. The 5-axis shake reduction mechanism "SR II" enables stable shooting in various scenes. Furthermore, it includes features that enhance the photographer's convenience, such as an optical viewfinder offering a bright and wide field of view and a flexible tilt-type LCD monitor.

Finding Light Through Gaps
In cities where buildings stack upon each other, there are many places where sunlight doesn't reach. Even in such conditions, the sun casts strong light if there is a small gap. This light looks like a "path of light." When someone walks through this path, I take quick shots aiming for a moment when their legs are fully extended.
When you stop on the path of light and look up at the sky, it's already a "miraculous" moment.

Winter is Best for Low Angle Light
While you can find landscapes of light and shadow throughout the year, the winter season, when the angle of light is lower, feels particularly dramatic.
Even on cold mornings, when I find long shadows and dazzling morning light, I feel it was worth getting up early.

Backlight for Silhouette
There were times when shooting in backlight felt like a forbidden technique, but considering the privacy of people reflected in urban landscapes, backlight turns people into silhouettes, which is very helpful, and the glowing outlines create a sense of fantastical beauty.

Be careful not to look directly at the sun through the viewfinder. It can blind you to your surroundings. (Speaking from experience)
Nostalgic Impression of the Setting Sun
The setting sun in the evening gives a more nostalgic impression compared to the morning sun. Perhaps the sunset colors make it feel that way. I try to find compositions where buildings and people are partially illuminated.

By increasing the color temperature in white balance, you can create a twilight hue. Be careful not to overdo it, as it can look fake. Adjust it to a good balance.
