Creators who love photography share their stories with their cameras. The presence of a 'beloved camera' reflects each person's worldview and values. In this series, fujikko, who loves the SONY α7 III, makes an appearance.

Fujikko, who captures parent-child moments, excitement, and even the lingering feelings on the way home, talks about the joys of aquarium photography made possible by the SONY α7 III. Discover the importance of capturing a child's radiant expression, along with techniques for low-light photography and utilizing aquarium reflections.

SONY α7 III Basic Information

Equipped with an approximately 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame back-illuminated CMOS sensor, it allows for high-sensitivity and high-quality shooting. With 693 phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast-detection AF points, it achieves fast and precise focusing, enabling clear shooting even in dark environments. The built-in 5-axis image stabilization maintains stable image quality even during handheld shooting, making it a versatile camera for landscapes, portraits, and sports photography.

Aquarium Photography Starts 'On the Way'

When going to the aquarium, I don't limit my shooting time to just inside the facility. I take pictures during the journey there and on the way back.
The reason is that the aquarium experience is accompanied by the excitement of going there and the lingering feelings on the way back.

Especially, my son's expressions change constantly. Eyes full of expectation, moments of surprise, and a satisfied, relieved face. I want to capture these as a continuous flow in photos.

Unique Aquarium Photography Techniques

In aquariums, the fish move quickly and the interior is dark, so photography requires some ingenuity. First, when photographing fish, I try to keep the camera as still as possible to reduce blur.

In dark environments, shutter speeds tend to slow down, so increasing the ISO sensitivity or using a bright lens is one method.

Also, reflections on the aquarium glass are inevitable, but instead of just avoiding them, intentionally capturing them can be an interesting expression.

If done well, it can create a mysterious photo where the world beyond the tank and this side intersect.

Capturing Parent-Child Time in Photos

What I particularly love is capturing the moment my son gazes intently at the fish through the glass.
His small hand resting on the tank, absorbed in watching the world inside the water. In that focused profile, I feel an indescribable affection.

The aquarium is not just a place to photograph fish, but also a place to record parent-child time. The sight of being absorbed in something, expressions of surprise and discovery, and the satisfied face on the way home.

By capturing this series of stories in photos, the time spent at the aquarium becomes a more vivid memory.
