Canon has announced a new compact camera for Vlog and video creators, the PowerShot V1. Scheduled for release in late April 2025, the price is open but expected to be around 148,500 yen (tax included).
The PowerShot V1 is the flagship model of the PowerShot V series, combining optimized video performance for Vlog and high-quality performance for still photography. It features a 1.4-inch CMOS sensor, supports 4K60p recording, Canon Log 3, Eye AF, and Animal Detection AF. Additionally, it includes a cooling fan and high-performance image stabilization, designed for extended video recording.
Compact Yet High Quality! Equipped with a 1.4-inch CMOS Sensor
The PowerShot V1 is equipped with a 1.4-inch CMOS sensor, approximately twice the area of a typical compact camera. With a maximum effective pixel count of 22.3 million pixels (for still photography), it enables high-sensitivity and high-quality shooting.
Additionally, it features Canon's DIGIC X image engine, also used in their full-frame models, supporting up to ISO 32000 (extended ISO 51200). This allows for low-noise shooting even in dark environments. Furthermore, Canon's unique Dual Pixel CMOS AF II for PowerShot is employed, achieving fast and precise autofocus. It supports eye detection not only for humans but also for animals (dogs and cats), making it ideal for Vlog and pet photography.
Cooling Fan and Image Stabilization to Strongly Support Video Recording
The PowerShot V1 supports high-resolution 4K60p video recording and offers rich color expression with Canon Log 3 in 10bit. It's an ideal choice for content creation for YouTube and social media.
Moreover, it is equipped with Canon's first cooling fan, ensuring stable performance even during extended video recording. It prevents overheating, allowing continuous 4K60p recording for up to over 2 hours.
Additionally, during video recording, the image stabilization (IS) function is enhanced. The new 'Subject Tracking IS' allows you to fix a pre-selected subject at a specific position on the screen while correcting for shake. This enables smooth and stable video recording even while walking for Vlog shooting.
