Leica Camera Japan Co., Ltd. has announced the compact digital camera 'Leica D-LUX8'. The release date is July 20, 2024. The price is 286,000 yen (including tax).

High-Quality Compact Digital Camera with 4/3 Sensor

The new model in the integrated lens camera 'D-LUX' series has arrived. The previous model, 'D-LUX7', was released in December 2018, with the first model of the series debuting in 2003. The 'D-LUX8' is said to embody Leica's unique product-making expertise, resulting in an even more compact and user-friendly form.
The effective pixel count of the image sensor is 17 million pixels (total pixel count of 21 million), similar to the previous model. The lens used is also the 'Leica DC Vario-Summilux f1.7-2.8/10.9-34mm ASPH.', with a focal length equivalent to 24-75mm in 35mm format.

First DNG Support and Refined Usability

While detailed technical specifications have not been revealed, the D-LUX series supports DNG (RAW) format recording for the first time. Additionally, seamless connectivity with the 'Leica FOTOS' app is possible.
The user interface is inspired by the 'Leica Q' series of integrated lens cameras with full-frame sensors, and the rear operation buttons are reduced compared to previous models, giving a simpler design impression. According to the company, 'by reviewing the layout based on simplicity and ergonomics, we have achieved more comfortable operability than ever before.'
