Have you ever heard of the term 'Shimatsu no Kokoro'? It refers to the spirit of valuing things by being creative and thoughtful about everything, a tradition passed down in Kyoto for many years.

At Daimaru Kyoto Store, we cherish the idea of 'Shimatsu no Kokoro' as an environmental activity that is not just about frugality or endurance, but about enjoying eco-friendly practices.

This contest invites each of you to express your own 'Shimatsu no Kokoro'!

For example...

• A personalized bottle you use every day
• Your favorite eco-bag discovered during a trip

These are photos that capture a lifestyle that is sustainable because you love it. Or,

• Children playing in a park littered with trash
• A housewife pondering between eco-friendly and non-eco-friendly choices

We are also looking for photos that provide insights or inspiration for engaging in environmental activities.

Winning entries that capture particularly wonderful actions will be displayed as posters in Daimaru Kyoto Store. Please take inspiration from these works and magazines, and express your 'Shimatsu no Kokoro'.

It's an easy 'Shimatsu no Kokoro' action that families can start right away. Recently, there are services where you can create personal bottles with your favorite designs.

Participating in a flea market is also considered a 'Shimatsu no Kokoro' action. Flea markets are sometimes held monthly at local shrines. Besides dishes and plants, you might find old photos taken by someone else. It could be a great idea to submit items bought at a flea market where you can find treasures at a low price.

Or, keeping your favorite eco-bag tucked in your bag for small shopping trips can also be called 'Shimatsu no Kokoro'. When you visit souvenir shops during trips, you often find local T-shirts, but if you look closely, you might also find eco-bags.
