Panasonic has announced the Micro Four Thirds camera 'LUMIX GH7'. The expected release date is July 26, 2024. The estimated retail price for the body alone is approximately 274,200 yen (tax included), and the lens kit including the 'LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 12-60mm / F2.8-4.0 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S.' is about 347,500 yen (tax included).

Achieving High-Quality Video with the Successor to 'LUMIX GH6'

The successor to the 'LUMIX GH6', released in March 2022, has arrived. Positioned as a video flagship, it includes features to enhance video production workflows, such as internal recording of video RAW data, 32-bit float audio recording, and connectivity to Adobe Frame.io. Additionally, the standard 'LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 12-60mm / F2.8-4.0 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S.' lens allows for high-quality video capture.

New Sensor and Dynamic Range Boost Feature

The new model features a backside-illuminated CMOS sensor with approximately 25.2 million effective pixels, significantly updated from the previous Live MOS sensor. The 'Dynamic Range Boost' feature, which combines dark and bright areas for rich gradation during image generation, continues to be included, with the base sensitivity expanded to ISO 500. Furthermore, it incorporates phase-detection AF used in the G9PROII and LUMIX S5II/S5IIX, enhancing real-time recognition AF. Performance has particularly improved in scenes involving moving subjects, multiple people, backlighting, low light, point light sources, and product presentations.

Advanced Subject Recognition AF and Image Stabilization

The subject recognition AF now includes 'Train/Airplane' and supports 'subject part setting'. This allows for specifying particular parts, such as the driver's helmet or the front of the car, during racing car photography. The 5-axis in-body image stabilization provides up to 7.5 stops of correction, and during video shooting, Boost I.S., Active I.S., and E.I.S. are also available. Additionally, features like the approximately 100-megapixel 'Handheld High Resolution' and 'LEICA Monochrome' functions make it an ideal camera for users pursuing creative expression.
