Mirrorless 'EOS R System' and DSLR 'EOS-1D X Mark III' Latest Firmware Released | Canon
Canon has released the latest firmware for mirrorless cameras 'EOS R3', 'EOS R5', 'EOS R6', and the digital SLR camera 'EOS-1D X Mark III'. The announcement date is March 26, 2024.
Canon's Mirrorless Camera 'EOS R System'
The 'EOS R' belongs to Canon's 'EOS R System', featuring a 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor with an RF mount. Announced in September 2018, it enhances image quality with newly developed RF lenses. Additionally, a dedicated mount adapter allows the use of EF and EF-S lenses, expanding shooting options.
The 'EOS R' is a culmination of Canon's technology, offering flexibility and a wide range of shooting variations with both new and old lenses.
Digital SLR Camera 'EOS-1D X Mark III'
The 'EOS-1D X Mark III' features a newly developed full-frame CMOS sensor with approximately 20.1 million pixels, the latest image engine 'DIGIC X', and a dedicated 'High-res AF sensor', significantly enhancing the camera's basic performance.
These technological advancements enable high-speed continuous shooting at up to approximately 16 frames per second with the optical viewfinder and up to 20 frames per second in live view shooting.
'EOS R3' Firmware Version 1.7.1
The remote servo zoom function using the 'Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E2/PZ-E2B' is now available with EOS Utility and Camera Connect. It supports 'CF Express cards' over 2TB up to 2TB, and fixes issues such as rare operational stops when using GPS and error 70 during flicker-free shooting at shutter speeds over one second.
FTPS connection security has been enhanced, and connection issues with 'iPhones' supporting USB 3.0 or higher have been resolved. Additionally, display malfunctions and camera operation issues under specific conditions have been corrected, along with minor bug fixes.
EOS R5 Firmware Version 2.0.0
Similarly, remote servo zoom using the power zoom adapter is now possible, and support for 'CF Express cards' over 2TB has been added. Issues such as delayed camera startup from auto power-off and display malfunctions and operation issues under specific conditions have been fixed.
EOS R6 Firmware Version 1.8.4
Fixes have been made for startup time issues and display malfunctions and operation issues under specific conditions, along with addressing minor bugs.
EOS-1D X Mark III Firmware Version 1.9.0
Support for 'CF Express cards' over 2TB, fixes for rare operational stops when using GPS, enhanced FTPS connection security, and resolution of display malfunctions and operation issues under specific conditions have been implemented.
