The annual 'KYOTOGRAPHIE Kyoto International Photography Festival' hosts diverse photography exhibitions throughout Kyoto City. Last year, it attracted 239,676 visitors, marking a 21% increase from the previous year.

The Theme for 2024 is 'SOURCE'

Following the 2023 theme 'BORDER', the 2024 theme is 'SOURCE', focusing on origins and suggesting alternative futures through the displayed works.

One notable exhibitor is Japanese photographer Kikuji Kawada, whose works will be displayed on the second floor of the South Corridor of the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art. Additionally, female photographers Rinko Kawauchi and Tokuko Ushioda will present an exhibition themed around family, reflecting over 40 years of photographic history from their perspectives.

Other participants include Tetsuo Kashiwada, Claudia Andujar, and the Chinese unit Birdhead, offering photographic art from various perspectives. Support for young artists is also provided, with applications accepted until December 31, 2023 (Sunday).
The music festival 'KYOTOPHONIE' is also scheduled to be held on weekends during the 'KYOTOGRAPHIE Kyoto International Photography Festival 2024'. Detailed schedules and admission fees can be checked on the official website.
