Other World Computing, Inc. released the Type B cards 'Atlas Ultra' and 'Atlas Pro' supporting the new standard 'CFexpress 4.0' on October 12, 2023. The maximum capacity is 2TB. They can be purchased from Amazon.co.jp in Japan.

These CFexpress Type B cards are based on the new 'CFexpress 4.0' standard using PCIe Gen 4. This release marks the second company to offer products compatible with this standard, following ProGrade Digital.

Benefits of the New Standard

The transfer speed is approximately doubled from the previous CFexpress 2.0 compatible 'Atlas Ultra' and 'Atlas Pro'. For the higher-end model 'Atlas Ultra', the maximum transfer speed is 3,650MB/s for reading and 3,000MB/s for writing. The minimum write speed is 1,500MB/s.
However, to fully utilize the performance, a card reader compatible with CFexpress 4.0 is required, with the release of compatible official card readers expected in early 2024.

Another feature of the new products is reduced power consumption, which is about one-third of the specifications set by CFexpress 4.0.

Updates from Previous Products

The previous CFexpress 2.0 versions of 'Atlas Ultra' and 'Atlas Pro' can be upgraded to CFexpress 4.0 via a firmware update, but only for products with read speeds of 1,850MB/s and write speeds of 1,700MB/s.
