西日本鉄道 x cizucu Co-hosted 'MEETS DIFFERENT IDEAS' | Challenge #202

'MEETS DIFFERENT IDEAS' is a photo contest co-hosted by Nishi-Nippon Railroad and cizucu. As an open contest that anyone can enter, it aims to create a space where creators can share their 'stirring of the heart'.

The contest is set at the newly established landmark in Fukuoka, Tenjin, ONE FUKUOKA BLDG. (commonly known as One Building). The concept 'Creative Intersection ~MEETS DIFFERENT IDEAS~' embodies the expectation that new ideas and values will emerge from interactions that transcend nationality, culture, and generation.

The theme this time is 'The Stirring of the Heart'.

It is a subtle emotional fluctuation that is different from awe or beauty, something that cannot be easily put into words.
Have you ever captured a moment when your gaze stopped and your heart faintly stirred?

For example, an old bicycle seen in an unfamiliar city.
A window of a building you happened to look up at during sunset.

That 'stirring' is linked to your own experiences and memories, and it holds the potential to connect with someone else's emotions. The 'Creative Intersection' that ONE FUKUOKA BLDG. aims for is precisely a place where such heart vibrations meet, giving birth to new 'inspirations'. In this contest, we are looking for photos that capture such 'stirring of the heart'.

The faint stirring that arose within you.
It might be the seed of a 'different idea' that does not yet exist in the world.

'Cherry Blossom Tunnel, A New Me'

The soft sunlight pouring down, the cherry blossoms in full bloom, and the students. It's a dazzling sight. The cherry blossoms that scatter in just a few weeks and the student days that last only a few years in life, because they are so fleeting, they seem like vivid times for the participants and more dazzling to the bystanders. It makes one reflect and project oneself.

Even though it's a still image, I feel like I can hear the tireless voices of the boys, the sound of them pedaling vigorously, and the 5 PM chime brushing past my ears. The framing that evokes anonymity and narrative, along with the grading that stays true to the real world, invites me to past scenes I have experienced.

A universally familiar sensation is visualized, one that everyone has at least one of in their memory album. It's a comforting scene that feels like a heart's hometown seen somewhere before, even if not explicitly nostalgic. Some might feel lonely. Noteworthy is the cinematic contrast and gradation that materialize the photographer's envisioned image. Such effective presentation takes us back to our hometown.

It may seem like just a piece of everyday life, but this is a particularly good photo. Warm light is not something to be pursued; it shines equally in everyone's life, and it's about whether you can notice it. The photographer noticed it and captured it. This seems like a graduation ceremony, but is the photographer a participant? In any case, capturing such a space from a third-person perspective in a photograph feels very delicate.
