Canon Inc. has officially announced the release of the 'EOS C80', featuring a full-frame CMOS sensor and supporting internal recording of 6K 30P 12bit RAW, in November 2024.
The EOS C80 adopts the RF mount and is a new digital cinema camera that combines the filmmaking capabilities of the CINEMA EOS series with the mobility of the EOS R series. The expected market price is around 850,000 yen, designed for individual filmmakers and users looking to step up from mirrorless cameras to filmmaking.
Achieving High Image Quality and Wide Dynamic Range
The EOS C80 is equipped with a 6K full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor, supporting internal RAW recording of 6K30P and 4K 4:2:2 10bit recording through 6K oversampling. With Canon Log 2 and Canon Log 3 offering up to 16 stops of dynamic range, it ensures a wide dynamic range and enables detailed and clear image expression.
Triple Base ISO and Advanced AF System
The EOS C80 features a triple base ISO design of ISO 800, 3200, and 12800, with an automatic switching function according to the shooting scene. This allows for low noise and high S/N ratio while enabling shooting across a wide range. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF II enhances the detection area and provides high-precision AF control, with improved moving object tracking performance.
Mobility and Expandability for Solo Operators
Designed for solo operators, the EOS C80 offers improved operability and mobility compared to conventional CINEMA EOS cameras. With an integrated grip body design, it allows for one-handed operation, significantly enhancing usability in filmmaking environments. It also features SDI and HDMI terminals, built-in Wi-Fi, and Ethernet terminals, supporting remote control and IP streaming.
