Flagship Model 'EOS R1' of the 'EOS R System' | Canon

Canon Inc. has announced the release of the first flagship model in the 'EOS R' series, the 'EOS R1', in November. The price is open, with a reference price of 1,089,000 yen (tax included) on the Canon online shop.

This full-frame mirrorless camera inherits the lineage of the flagship model signified by . It is positioned above the current top model, the 'EOS R3' (released in November 2021), in the RF mount camera lineup. As a successor in the lineage, it is the first appearance since the digital SLR camera 'EOS-1D X Mark III' (released in February 2020), achieving the still and video performance required of a flagship model to meet the high demands of professionals.

High-Performance Autofocus and High-Speed Continuous Shooting

The 'EOS R1' supports cross AF for the first time with Dual Pixel CMOS AF, ensuring accurate capture of subjects even in challenging scenes such as shooting over a volleyball net. Additionally, it allows high-speed continuous shooting at up to 40 frames per second with an electronic shutter, ensuring you don't miss decisive moments. Furthermore, it features a newly developed electronic viewfinder with approximately 9.44 million dots, providing a comfortable shooting experience in any environment.

High Image Quality and Diverse Video Recording Functions

With a newly developed full-frame CMOS sensor of approximately 24.2 million effective pixels, it covers a high sensitivity range of ISO 100 to 102400, enabling high-quality shooting in various scenes. The camera's internal upscaling function can generate images up to 96 million pixels. Additionally, it supports 6K 60p RAW video recording, as well as high frame rate shooting at 4K 120p and FHD 240p, expanding the possibilities for video recording.

Excellent Operability and Durability

The 'EOS R1' features a magnesium alloy body with dust and drip resistance, ensuring reliable use even in harsh environments. The new cross-pattern grip and the AF-ON button supporting two-step operation of half-press and full-press enhance operability. It uses the 'LP-E19' battery, supporting long-duration shooting.

Advanced Communication Features

It supports Wi-Fi 6E/6 and is equipped with a wired LAN high-speed standard 2.5GBase-T. By connecting with the new app 'Content Transfer Professional', it allows fast transfer of still images and videos via smartphone.
