The iPhone 15 Pro series has been released, enabling Apple Log shooting with ProRes. This new feature makes it possible to use the iPhone as a genuine cinema camera. The recently released movie 'Midnight' was also shot entirely on an iPhone. However, no matter how excellent the iPhone camera is, it cannot achieve perfect filmmaking on its own.

The Necessity of Rigs

Many 'iPhoneographers' attach a frame called a 'rig' to their iPhone during shooting. By attaching various accessories to this rig, the iPhone can perform as a professional filming device. The rig industry is currently booming, with many manufacturers releasing rigs for iPhones. Among them, the 'Tilta Khronos' is gaining attention.

Innovation of Tilta Khronos

Tilta is a Chinese camera equipment manufacturer that handles lens filters and rigs for cinema cameras. Recently, they have also been developing and selling tripods. The Khronos is a rig with a built-in power system, allowing many accessories to be used wirelessly. Cables that conduct power are built into the rig, freeing users from the hassle of cables by simply attaching accessories to the contact points.

Filmmaking with Applied Parts

Khronos offers a wide range of accessories, including grips with large-capacity batteries and fans that can simultaneously perform MagSafe charging and cooling. By combining these, you can significantly improve the shooting environment of your iPhone. Additionally, 29 types of parts such as dedicated lens filters, LED lights, handles, ARCA quick-release adapters, and SSD holders are available.

Improving the Editing Environment After Shooting

Among them, the 'Khronos Quick Release USB-C Hub' is noteworthy. It is a hub equipped with two USB-C ports, one HDMI port, and one 3.5mm audio port, and also features an ARCA quick-release plate. Since the iPhone 15 Pro, it has become common to connect a large-capacity SSD to store the massive data of ProRes shooting, but with only one USB-C port, it was difficult to connect an external microphone and battery simultaneously.

Using this hub, you can connect multiple options simultaneously and even transfer to a monitor via HDMI connection.
