Developed under a licensing agreement between COSINA and Nikon, this ultra-wide manual focus (MF) lens supports 35mm full-frame cameras. It features an optical design optimized for the image sensors of Nikon Z system cameras, seamlessly integrating with camera functions through electronic contacts. It supports digital features such as MF assist, Exif information reading, and in-body image stabilization, significantly enhancing the user's shooting experience.

The history of the 'SUPER WIDE-HELIAR 15mm F4.5 Aspherical' dates back to 1999. It was originally based on a screw mount version for rangefinder cameras released alongside the film camera 'BESSA-L'. Despite being ultra-wide, it is known for minimal distortion and sharp depiction up to the edges of the frame. The design has been revised for digital cameras, optimizing the angle of incident light to improve image quality.
Additionally, to facilitate the use of square filters, the traditional fixed lens hood has been redesigned to be detachable, adopting a minus screw fastening method to maintain the compactness of the lens barrel.
