SIGHTRON JAPAN announces new products from the SHARPSTAR telescope brand: '50EDPH' and 'Reducer for 50EDPH'. Release date is March 19, 2024. The expected retail price for '50EDPH' is around 80,000 yen (including tax). The 'Reducer for 50EDPH' is expected to be around 20,000 yen (including tax).
Lightweight and Versatile Apochromatic Telescope
The '50EDPH' is an apochromatic telescope with a 50mm aperture and a focal length of 275mm. Its 3-element, 3-group design, including two ED lenses, minimizes chromatic aberration for clear observations. By attaching the separately sold 'Reducer for 50EDPH', the focal length is shortened to 230mm, and the aperture ratio is reduced to F4.6, achieving a flat field suitable for APS-C size sensors.

Weighing approximately 1kg, it features a lightweight design. It supports both cameras and eyepieces and comes with two extension tubes.
It can be mounted using M48×0.75mm threading or 31.7mm insertion, and the integrated rack-and-pinion focuser with a reduction mechanism allows for easy composition changes. Additionally, it is equipped with a finder base to accommodate guide scopes or finders.
The dovetail bar integrated with the telescope band has 1/4-20UNC and M6 mounting holes, making it easy to attach to tripods and other equipment.

'Reducer for 50EDPH'

The dedicated 4-element, 4-group correction lens for '50EDPH' reduces the focal length to 230mm at 0.84x and brightens the F-number to 4.6. This correction allows for beautiful images even with short exposure times, with a central spot radius of approximately 3.1μm, ensuring sharpness.
An M48 filter can be attached via an M48 adapter.
