Nikon Corporation announced on March 7, 2024, that it has made RED.com, LLC (hereinafter referred to as "RED"), a U.S. professional digital cinema camera manufacturer, a subsidiary.
RED is known as a leading manufacturer in digital cinema camera development, with models such as "RED ONE 4K" and "V-RAPTOR [X]", and has been used in the filming of many Hollywood movies.
Founder James Jannard and current president Jarred Land have agreed to the complete acquisition of RED by Nikon.
This partnership is expected to provide Nikon and RED with opportunities to merge their strengths and develop unique products in the field of professional video equipment. By leveraging each other's foundations and networks, they plan to further expand the growing professional video market.
