Mitsuru Wakabayashi Photo Exhibition #01

Based in Kyoto and capturing the world, Mitsuru Wakabayashi is known for capturing fleeting moments and blending people into scenic beauty. His solo exhibition, 'Mitsuru Wakabayashi Photo Exhibition #01', will be held from December 3 (Sun) to December 9 (Sat) at in Kyoto.

Aiming to create a memorable photo exhibition, the display will feature unpublished works not shown on social media, focusing on creating a memorable exhibition space beyond conventional display methods.

In preparation for the exhibition, we aim to create an unforgettable experience for visitors. While traditional photo exhibitions often involve viewing framed photos, we explored unique approaches based on ideas from conversations with colleagues to offer a more memorable experience. Two exhibition spaces will be prepared, with one featuring a display unlike anything seen before. The space is designed as an immersive experience, with music created by Yasumi An (@bud_envi). We hope visitors will discover a new appreciation for the joy of photography.

During the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022, I continued a photo diary while walking around my neighborhood daily. This period made me realize the beauty and transience of everyday life and led me to reconsider the documentary nature of photography, changing my perspective on it.

By printing and exhibiting photos rather than just uploading them to social media, I hope to convey the thoughts and dedication behind each photo more deeply. These works, meant to be viewed repeatedly as tangible prints, will be on display. If you have time, please enjoy the exhibition casually with a coffee or wine in hand.
