The Japan Institute of Photography and Film will open a new department, 'Photo Communication' (Evening Course/2-year program), in April 2024.

This new department aims to nurture the ability to 'connect with people and society' through photography. It is also envisioned as a 'relearning' opportunity for learners with social experience. It supports challenges such as wanting to have peers to learn photography with or stepping up from a hobby to study photography seriously.

Concept of the New Department

The department emphasizes the power of 'visual communication,' such as showing photographic works to people and discussing them through the works. The curriculum is characterized by learning various ways of communication, including expression skills, photography techniques, presentation skills, and the use of the internet and social media, to learn how to connect with people and society.

In addition to providing practical learning opportunities such as camps, study trips, and joint exhibitions, it is also possible to earn credits with 2-3 days of attendance per week by utilizing online classes.
