Tamron Co., Ltd. announces the release date of the wide-angle zoom lens '17-50mm F/4 Di III VXD' for Sony E-Mount compatible with 35mm full-frame mirrorless cameras. The development was announced in August 2023, with a release anticipated in the fall. The release is set for October 19, 2023. The price is 119,900 yen (tax included).
This is the world's first wide-angle zoom lens for Sony E-Mount that covers 17 to 50mm at a constant F4 across the entire range. It achieves high image quality throughout the zoom range, remaining clear to the edges of the frame. The AF drive employs the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism, known for its quietness and agility, achieving fast and precise autofocus.
The adoption of an inner zoom mechanism means the length does not change during zooming, making it easy to balance on gimbals and ideal for video shooting as well as still photography.
