Time Traveler
Spitz once sang, "Beyond the torii gate lies a dazzling past," but even without passing through a torii, we often encounter signs with unfamiliar fonts that evoke memories of the past while walking through the city.
These nostalgic buildings and signs, which are quintessential to Japan's original landscape, may eventually be demolished due to redevelopment or collapse in an earthquake, leaving future children without the chance to see them.
This month's mission is to discover these gaps in time that we can notice because we live in the present, capture them in photographs as time travelers, and aim to connect the universal Japanese aesthetic and spirit to the future. We hope for a photo taken in a lesser-known place rather than a popular spot.
