Capture your Emotion
'Capture your Emotion' is a global online photo contest open to any creator registered with cizucu, in collaboration with Zenkyoan. The contest aims to curate outstanding works from submissions, discovering new talents as a platform and supporting the community.
The judges for this contest include Masamune Uematsu, the chief priest of Zenkyoan and a former lecturer teaching photography techniques at an art university in Kyoto, along with the cizucu team.
Zenkyoan is a Zen temple located in Higashiyama, Kyoto. It enshrines 'Marishiten', widely worshipped for its blessings of good fortune and victory, and is counted as one of the 'Three Great Marishiten of Japan'. In recent years, it has become known as a temple open to performing arts, hosting live events, contemporary art, and picture book exhibitions.

The theme of this contest is 'Expression of Emotions'. The word 'photography' means 'to capture the truth'. Sometimes, it can express emotions that cannot be fully described in words.
We hope to see photos that capture 'your emotions'. Through a single photo that conveys your unique story, beyond conventional standards of beauty, we aim to explore the potential of photography itself, known for 'capturing the truth'.
[Message from Chief Priest Uematsu of Zenkyoan]
Thank you for your interest in this contest. The idea of 'expressing one's emotions through photography' was born from my daily reflections on how to express oneself while teaching photography as a university lecturer.
People are moved by objects and scenery before them, point their lenses, and press the shutter. While the photo remains, simply taking it does not convey the emotions of that moment to others. We are not looking for photos of beautiful scenery or objects, nor photos to receive 'likes' from others. Human emotions have rich gradations that are difficult to express or convey in words.
With modern cameras and smartphones equipped with live view functions, I hope you will use your camera like an instrument, expressing yourself freely and honestly to your emotions.

Chief Priest Masamune Uematsu
