Mission

The reasons we are able to continue something we started casually for years are often not grand gestures, but rather small, seemingly insignificant things to others. Even the smallest meaningful encounters can guide our lives in a better direction. At cizucu, under the vision of 'Inspire Your (Photo) Creativity,' we are committed to supporting creators, sparking inspiration, and continuously being the reason you love photography. This time, we are holding a contest to hear from you—the source of our greatest motivation—about your 'reason for continuing photography.' We are honored to welcome Makoto Hashimuki, who has spent over a decade capturing Mt. Fuji and sharing its allure with audiences in Japan and abroad, as our curator. For some, the joy of expression is the reason to continue; for others, it may be the communication that arises through photography. We wish to listen closely to these diverse and unique reasons, support you, and channel your voices into the further development of our service. In your caption, please share your reason for continuing photography. For your submission, select a photograph that holds special meaning in your photographic journey—perhaps an image that became your reason to continue, or one that made you discover the joy of photography—and submit it to the contest. This contest is a declaration of our ongoing commitment to support every creator involved with cizucu. The theme may be a bit challenging, but we look forward to hearing your stories! ■ Curator Makoto Hashimuki Born in 1977 in Shizuoka Prefecture. Inspired by Mt. Fuji's registration as a World Heritage site, he began using social media to share its beauty with the world. In 2021, his photograph of a massive lenticular cloud over Mt. Fuji attracted international media attention and was featured on Japanese TV programs. He held a solo exhibition in Florence, Italy, in 2021, and at Canon Gallery Ginza in 2022. Another exhibition is scheduled at Sunpu Museum in October 2023. His publications include 'Shinki' (Impress), 'New Fuji Landscapes,' 'Simply Amazing Mt. Fuji,' 'The Four Seasons of Mt. Fuji,' and the annual 'JTB Beautiful Mt. Fuji' calendar. *Submissions that violate our guidelines ( https://www.cizucu.com/terms/guideline ) will not be considered by the jury. *Winners may be contacted by the cizucu team to confirm personal information such as address.
