Mission

"Crossing the torii, you find yourself in a dazzling country of the past," sang Spitz, but you don't need to pass through a torii to encounter the past in the unusual fonts on rusty signs you see while walking through town. Perhaps due to redevelopment or earthquakes, nostalgic buildings and signs that represent the quintessential Japanese landscape may be lost to future generations. This month's mission is to capture these time gaps that only we, living in the present, can notice, acting as time travelers. Through these photos, we aim to discover universal Japanese aesthetics and spirituality and connect them to the future. We hope for a shot taken in a lesser-known spot, rather than a popular location. You can check the judging criteria in the magazine below.
