I’m Iván Gómez, a self-taught photographer originally from Madrid, Spain, and currently residing in Osaka, Japan. My passion for photography was born from the desire to capture the duality between light and shadow, showcasing the world from a unique perspective: that of someone observing from within the shadows. Inspired by cyberpunk films from the 70s and 80s, my work is characterized by mysterious urban settings devoid of human presence, where neon lights and streetlamps illuminate seemingly abandoned landscapes, creating a dark and enigmatic atmosphere. I work with a Fujifilm XA5 camera and a Fujifilm XF 18-135 lens, tools that have accompanied me throughout my self-taught journey in photography. Each image is the result of years of practice and experimentation, aiming to perfect a style that blends cinematic nostalgia with a contemporary vision of Japanese urban landscapes. My goal is to share my vision with the world by participating in exhibitions and, in the future, publishing a book that compiles my most significant works. Through my lens, I invite viewers to explore an alternative Japan: one where light casts shadows filled with stories and mystery.
